Supporting the economy

As some of you may know, Montreal just ended its full quarantine and started implementing phases to introduce new activities and resumption of services/business to help the economy. We are doing the best we can to support local businesses, restaurants, etc. The government of Quebec has implemented a website to help encourage local merchants.

My Top 10 Activities to Try
Kid friendly and adult inspired fun & support

Here are my top activities that can keep you safe and enjoying the outdoors, all at the same time.

Waterparks: Boroughs in the suburban areas of the West Island, especially the city of Pierrefonds will gradually be re-opening water parks/games during the heat wave. Opening hours are from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. with social distancing measures being put in place.

Camps: The government has announced that day camps can open June 22. However, following the announcement many camps have decided not to re-open due to rendering it impossible for some camps to operate while making sure the application of rigorous hygiene measures are put in place in such settings.

Some camps, such as Tekkers Soccer Camp has introduced online soccer drills via their Facebook and Instagram pages so children can practice their skills in their own yard until decisions are made.

Children’s Scavenger Hunt: The city of Beaconsfield and Beaurepaire Village have come up with a unique way for children to take advantage of the summer all while social distance. A scavenger hunt is prepared around the Village and an easy to download map and list is accessible via their website. To download, click here.

Sprucing planters and gardens: The infamous Atwater Market, a Montreal staple for fresh produce and plants is now open for business. You can shop their merchants and grab your fresh cut flowers in the scenic outskirt of the Downtown core. Take note that neighboring nurseries in surrounding areas are also open for all your gardening needs.

Camping is back to being trendy: Starting on June 1, 2020, all Quebec campsites, marinas, and accommodations at SÉPAQ national parks will be able to reopen to the public. The government notes that while camping sites are open, that the public must still respect the established public health rules.

For the rainy days: Families can now watch IMAX documentaries from the comfort of their own home. The Montreal Science Centre is celebrating its 20th anniversary by streaming four free films for families. Click here to be directed to the available list. Stay tuned to know more about the classic drive-in movie theaters, which will be making a come back this summer around the Greater Montreal Region.

Make a new cocktail at home: Brahm Mauer Bar Services At Home is a delivery service of market fresh mixology cocktails. Each package contains everything but the alcohole and serves 8 cocktails, that will last over a week refrigerated. View the various kits here.

Stay stylish and be entertained: Local artisan Kim, has been a long time friend and vendor for many of my client gifts. She is a unique baker of goods and now, the go-to in town for all your reusable masks. Styles vary, but the important part is that she creates both adult and child size masks - along with goodies that can be picked up, such as these fun coloring, fondant cookies! Visit her page here for more.

Physical health: Local trainers have been offereing live feeds of daily workout routines, but due to the weather - some have incorporated new workout schedules for outdoor trainings. Limited participants are allowed with protocols to follow, but this should ensure more motivation in the fitness field!
